Spanish LaLiga Season 2024/25

Week 1 Review

Finally, the 2024/25 LalIga EA Sports season has kicked off and many could not hope for a better start to the new season.

The Hansi Flick era has begun at Barcelona just as the new Galacticos finally took to the pitch for Real Madrid. Girona have seen that the rest of the league is prepared for them as Athletic Club Bilbao realises that their path to the top six will not be any easier.

The best thing about the opener of the 2024/25 season is that there was only one red card in the whole game week, which is a sharp contrast to how the 23/24 season started.

As fans settle into the new season, here is a review of the best bits of action from the 2024/25 season opener matchday.

LaLiga opens on equal footing across board

Welcome officially to our coverage of the 2024/25 LaLiga season!

After a frantic end to the 2023/24 season, teams in the top-flight division of Spanish club football have decided to not let the ball drop in any way.

All teams started on the front foot, putting in performances that showed their fans that they were not looking to just be counted this season. Every team played like they had a goal in mind. From the top six teams to the newly promoted sides, all the 2024/25 LaLiga EA Sports teams delivered.

The most prominent ones are Mallorca, who, in continued fashion, gave the champions of Spain, Real Madrid, a tough time. This time around, they escaped with a point after coming back from an early Rodrygo Goes goal through veteran striker Vedat Muriqi. That match was telling of how the defending champions could fare this season because fans were treated to great football from both sides as well as a peculiarity that, right now, exists only at Real Madrid.

Los Blancos currently have the best firepower in world football but unfortunately, the lot of them are left-sided players. Carlo Ancelotti’s managerial style may not be suited to them as this saw their attack follow a single pattern of play – over 60 percent coming from the left.

Their talent managed to make it work but it is uncertain that it will work all the time.

On the other side of the El Clasico divide, the Hansi Flick era got off to a winning start at the Mestalla, home of Los Che. The win was a struggle but Flick would be happy to get his first three points in a team he so desperately wanted to manage.

A team to watch this season will be Sevilla, who struggled throughout last season but managed to stay afloat. They are now without key striker Youssef En-Nesyri, who moved to Fenerbahçe last month. They started off strongly with a draw against Las Palmas but defensive lapses could be seen in their game. The fans will hope for a better outing from them this season, especially without the distraction of European football.

Results

After an interesting opening match week, here are the scores from all across Spain’s top flight.

Table

The 2024/25 LaLiga EA Sports season opens like this!

Top Scorers

The season has just begun and Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski is already setting the pace. The Polish striker has two goals in his first league game to lead the scoring charts – and it could have been three if he didn’t sky a perfectly laid-up chance for a hat trick. The surprise is that Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé is not on the scorer’s list although we all understand that it is just a matter of time.
