Kane second half hattrick steers Bayern to victory

Bayern Munich and Stuttgart brought poor form into this match as they were winless in three matches prior to the international break. They both started the match like teams that were going through a rough patch as they struggled to build meaningful attacks. At the halftime break, Vincent Kompany would have laid down the law with his side as they came out as inspired men. They created plenty of chances with Harry Kane missing a golden opportunity to put his side in front. He did finally get the ball in the back of the net in the 57th minute. He only had to wait three minutes to get his second, which effectively sealed the win for the log leaders. Kane though was far from finished as he claimed yet another hattrick with his third goal coming in the 80th minute. There was still enough time for Bayern to grab a fourth goal as Kingsley Coman got on the scoresheet in the 89th minute. It is now four games that Stuttgart last got a win.

Leverkusen return to winning ways

Champions Bayer Leverkusen ended a two game winless streak when they claimed a customary come from behind victory over a stubborn Eintracht Frankfurt team. Xabi Alonso’s team started the match brightly and should have taken the lead in the 9th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Victor Boniface stepped up to take the kick but he had his effort saved by the keeper. Frankfurt made the hosts pay for the miss as they took the lead in the 16th minute. The lead was short lived as Leverkusen equalised just 9 minutes later thanks to Robert Andrich. The hosts continued to push for the winner but had to wait until the 72nd minute when Boniface found the back of the net. The champions are now just three points behind leaders Bayern and RB Leipzig.

Leipzig maintain pressure on Bayern

RB Leipzig continued their unbeaten start to the season with their third straight win. They comfortably beat a struggling Mainz team 2-0 to join Bayern at the top of the log on 17 points. The Red Bull side scored in the 20th minute to take the lead and then doubled their advantage in the 37th to secure the points. Dortmund got back to winning ways when they beat St.Pauli 2-1 to move into 7th spot on 13 points. They are now just a point behind the top four positions. Last season’s surprise runners up Stuttgart continue to struggle as they have now gone three league matches without a win. They are currently in ninth spot with just nine points.

Bottom three sink further from safety

The bottom three teams again failed to win as they all lost in the latest round of fixtures. Holstein Kiel and Bochum remain the only two winless teams in the league as they fell to Union Berlin and Hoffenheim respectively. St. Pauli gave a good account of themselves before losing to Dortmund 2-1. They were unlucky in that they had a goal disallowed early in the match that could have changed the course of the game. St.Pauli remain in 16th spot but now the gap between them and the team above them is 3 points.
